AidData Summer Fellows work with universities, NGOs, think tanks, and government agencies in developing countries to help build capacity in geocoded data management, visualization, and analysis. During a 10-week placement in the summer of 2017, Fellows will have the chance to train and directly assist development professionals to use GIS (geographic information system) in their ongoing work. Fellows also have the opportunity to attend conferences and networking events in-country. This hands-on opportunity is a unique way to gain professional experience in international development while working abroad.
Fellows will receive a research stipend to cover the costs of travel and on-the-ground expenses. Target placements for 2017 tentatively include Uganda, the Philippines, Senegal, Ghana, Timor-Leste, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Please see the 2017 ASF Application for more details. To read about what the 2016 Fellows were up to last year, check out the ASF backgrounder. Applications consisting of a resume and cover letter are due to [email protected] by November 16 at 11:59pm. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
